Far beyond the known rifts, in a realm shaped by rot, resilience, and relentless evolution, stands an impossible fortress: the Devouring Spire. Its surface crawls with living ridges of mycelium, expanding and healing like a massive organism that refuses to die. At its core sits Vor’thuun — the first fungal being to transcend instinct and awaken to true awareness, born from ancient subterranean networks that once spanned an entire dying planet.
Vor’thuun did not conquer its world through war. It grew through it. Every clash fed the colony. Every enemy that fell became nourishment, their strength absorbed back into the Spire’s living walls, thickening its defenses, accelerating its evolution. The fungal brood under its command isn’t a swarm of mindless creatures — it’s a living ecosystem connected through pulsing mycelial threads, acting as a single will with a single purpose: to harvest strength from the struggle of its enemies.
“Strength is nourishment. Conflict is growth. All who resist… feed us.”
When the rift opened and the Empire shimmered beyond the veil, Vor’thuun sensed a feast unlike anything before. The Empire’s scholars, glimpsing the Devouring Spire, understood immediately: if the colony ever crossed the threshold, it would not corrupt their people — it would consume their strength and rise into something unstoppable. The raid had to happen before the Spire could grow any further.
Now it has arrived on your world map as part of the Rift Raid Event — a 7-day Alliance challenge running monthly, where your entire Alliance attacks a shared boss together. Your rewards scale with your contribution, and bringing the boss down entirely unlocks defeat rewards for everyone who fought.
Vor’thuun’s mechanic is built around one principle: the longer you take, the worse it gets. Its walls regenerate, and every regeneration cycle spawns dormant Spores that quietly accumulate in a reserve — unseen, building up. When the boss hits a critical health threshold, every last Spore mutates simultaneously into a powerful unit and floods the courtyard. Hit fast, use your Spore Tools to slow the regeneration cycles, and make sure your Alliance has enough left in the tank when that final mutation hits.
